The following are words given by participants at the streamed meeting. 1 Corinthians 14:29 says that "Two or three prophets should speak, and the others weigh carefully what is said." 1 Thess 5:19-21 tells us not to despise prophecies, but to test everything and retain what is good.
Scripture Reading at beginning of meeting, Psalm 66:1-4 - Shout joyfully to God, all you on earth, sing praise to the glory of his name; proclaim his glorious praise. Say to God, "How tremendous are your deeds! for your great strength your enemies fawn upon you. Let all on earth worship and sing praise to you, sing praise to your name!"
Scripture Reading Isaiah 63:7 - The favors of the Lord I will recall, the glorious deeds of the Lord, because of all he has done for us; for he is good to the house of Israel, he has favored us according to his mercy and his great kindness.
Scripture Reading Isaiah 45:4-6 - I call you by your name, I surname you, though you do not know me. I am the Lord, and there is no other; besides me there is no god. I arm you, though you do not know me, so that they may know, from the rising of the sun and from the west, that there is no one besides me; I am the Lord, and there is no other.
Vision - I had a vision of a brown wooden Rosary, and on the cross, on the left and the right hand side of the cross there was like an orange bead. It was kind of like a stone of some kind. So, I don't know if that's somebody's Rosary.
Vision - I got this vision. It's in the bible; of the widow that goes to the judge and keeps knocking. She keeps knocking and knocking until he answers. The Lord, that's how he wants us to bring our petitions, to not give up, to just keep knocking on his door until it is the right time for him to answer our prayers, because there is a right time. So we need to be persevering. He doesn't want us to stop praying. Even though we don't get the answer right away, the Lord is saying he's working on it. Just keep on knocking.
Scripture Reading Zephaniah 3:17-18 - The Lord your God is with you; his power gives you victory. The Lord will take delight in you, and in his love he will give you new life. He will sing and be joyful over you, as joyful as people at a festival. The Lord says, "I have ended the threat of doom and taken away your disgrace."
Scripture Reading Isaiah 3:18-26 - In that day the Lord will take away the finery of the anklets, the headbands, and the crescents; the pendants, the bracelets, and the scarfs; the headdresses, the armlets, the sashes, the perfume boxes, and the amulets; the signet rings and nose rings; the festal robes, the mantles, the cloaks, and the handbags, the garments of gauze, the linen garments, the turbans, and the veils. Instead of perfume there will be a stench; and instead of a sash, a rope; and instead of well-set hair, baldness; and instead of a rich robe, a binding of sackcloth; instead of beauty, shame. Your men shall fall by the sword and your warriors in battle. And her gates shall lament and mourn; ravaged, she shall sit upon the ground.
Prophecy - The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.
Vision - I got a vision of hands holding like a moon or a Eucharist It was a very bright white thing, and it was in these hands.
Prophetic Word - I asked the Lord why he had given me that vision of the widow knocking on the door. What came to my spirit and I believe it's from God. Because, he said that there's some people, whether it's in our prayer meeting or in our families, that are giving up. They're not seeing the prayers answered, so, they're stopping praying. And he's saying, "Do not stop. Keep asking. I will not be tired of hearing you knock on my door. Do not stop knocking. Keep believing."
The bible reference of the prophecy of the persistent widow and the judge is Luke 18:1-8.
Prophecy - My children, my hands are like diamonds. They shine light into the darkness. They shine love into the sadness. My children, tonight I am calling you to see me in a new way. I am calling you, my children, to see me in the Holy Eucharist, the Holy Eucharist where repentance is called for. The Holy Eucharist where deep shame can be healed, where man's wounds can be delivered; the Holy Eucharist where all of the anguish and agony of one's life can be redeemed and relieved. I want you to come to me in trust and in confidence that I am a God of love and a God of mercy; and that through the Eucharist there is healing power. But you must persevere. You must ask. You must believe that I am present in the Holy Eucharist, and in that presence, I am Jesus who wants to heal you.
Joan re Rosary vision - That's the Rosary that Joe usually uses when we say the Rosary. Those two stones, one on each side - It just struck me that could be Joe and me, one on each side of the Rosary, saying the Rosary. Maybe it's the Lord encouraging us to say the Rosary.
Whoever said about that ball and the hands, ever since they've said that, I've been singing, "He's got the whole world in his hands."
When L. gave her prophecy about the diamonds in Jesus' hands, he then put his hands on my cheeks. I felt loved and accepted.
Just before the meeting started, I opened my bible. I saw I had this card. It's Our Lady of the Rosary. And so, with all the sharings, I thought, I do believe God is calling us to spend time praying the Rosary.
Vision - While L. was giving her prophecy, I saw a bride and a groom. It was like a wedding was taking place and I think that we are like the Bride of Christ.
This is the month of the Rosary.
Fr. Sparough, SJ spoke on "What's In Your Spiritual Wallet?" Talk was based on Mark 7:14-23.
Jesus asks, "What's in your heart?" Root out all uncleanness.
In the 12 step program, the hardest is the first step. Recognize you have a problem. A spiritual stress test: When encountering something that is inconvenient, how are we coping in those situations? Are we judgmental, argumentative? Sometimes, we become discouraged.
Analogy: Life is like trying to row upstream against a very strong current. It takes a lot of energy just to stay where you are in the river. And so, you may look and say, "I'm not making any progress at all." But at least you are not going backwards. If you stop rowing, that current is going to sweep you back downstream. It takes a tremendous amount of effort to make progress that stream.
If you're looking at your spiritual life and you're saying, "I'm not growing, I'm just staying where I am." At least be thankful that you're not getting worse. Don't become discouraged because discouragement is one of the primary tools that the devil uses to attack people who are trying to grow in grace.
Giving into discouragement is a subtle form of pride because we think we should be able to do this by ourselves. Holiness is an inside job and it's not so much what we do, but what we allow God's grace to do within us; surrendering to God, when we say, "Lord, this has got me, I need your help." That kind of prayer changes our lives. We have to co-operate with the gifts of the Holy Spirit, but the change comes not from our effort. It comes from our begging for God's grace, a power greater than ourselves, to restore us to sanity to change our lives.
Pelagian heresy: Pelagius, externally was a very holy person. He fasted, he prayed, etc. But his emphasis was, if you want to achieve holiness, you can do it. Muscle through it. It's a matter of will power and strength. St. Augustine and other leaders said, "That's heresy."
When we acknowledge that we cannot save ourselves, except through God's grace, that is an act of profound humility. Pride is the sin of Satan. He said, "Who needs God when I got me." The beginning of holiness is recognizing that we can't do it ourselves.
This is not beating ourselves up. Don't hate yourself. Don't despair. Come as you are in your brokenness and ask for help. What is born from that is peace, serenity. Holiness is an inside job but the engine of transformation is the Holy Spirit.
