Prophetic Words & Scripture Readings at Live Stream November 22, 2023

Nov 23, 2023

The following are words given by participants at the streamed meeting.  1 Corinthians 14:29 says that "Two or three prophets should speak, and the others weigh carefully what is said."  1 Thess 5:19-21 tells us not to despise prophecies, but to test everything and retain what is good.

At beginning of meeting 2 Maccabees 6:18 - "Eleazar, one of the scribes in high position, a man now advanced in age and of noble presence, was being forced to open his mouth to eat swine's flesh.  But he, welcoming death with honor rather than life with pollution, went up to the rack of his own accord spitting out the flesh as all ought to do who have the courage to refuse things that is not right to taste, even for the natural love of life."

Scripture Reading Sirach 51:1-3 - "I give you thanks, O Lord and King, and praise you, O God my Savior.  I give thanks to your name, for you have been my protector and helper and have delivered me from destruction and from the trap laid by a slanderous tongue, from lips that fabricate lies.  In the face of my adversaries, you have been my helper and delivered me, in the greatness of your mercy and of your name, from grinding teeth about to devour me, from the hand of those seeking my life, from the many troubles I endured."

Scripture Reading John 10:7-11 - "I tell you most solemnly, I am the gate of the sheepfold.  All others who have come are thieves and brigands; but the sheep took no notice of them.  I am the gate.  Anyone who enters through me will be safe:  he will go freely in and out and be sure of finding pasture.  The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy.  I have come so that they may have life and have it to the full.  I am the good shepherd:  the good shepherd is one who lays down his life for his sheep."

Scripture Reading Psalm 95:1-5 - "O come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation!  Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving; let us shout joyfully to him with psalms!  For the Lord is a great God and a great King above all gods.  In whose hand are the depths of the earth; the peaks of the mountains are his also.  The sea is his, for it was he who made it; and his hands formed the dry land."

Scripture Reading Romans 8:18-21 - "I consider that what we suffer at this present time cannot be compared at all with the glory that is going to be revealed to us.  All of creation waits with eager longing  for God to reveal his children.  For creation was condemned to lose its purpose, not of its own will, but because God willed it to be so.  Yet there was the hope that creation itself would one day be set free from its slavery to decay and would share the glorious freedom of the children of God."

Scripture Reading Psalm 99 - "Exult God and bow down before him."

From a meditation - "You don't need to change to believe in my love, for it will be your belief in my love that will change you."

 Teaching

Dr. Mary Healy spoke on "How to Walk in the Anointing of the Spirit".  Jesus is the model for us.  Jesus is God who chose to live as man dependent on the Holy Spirit.  His mission was to be the one empowered by, anointed by the Holy Spirit so that he could go into all the dark places of fallen humanity, right into the places of brokenness, the place of blindness, of sickness, of demonic oppression, of the oppression of sin, all the misery of the fallen human race; to proclaim good news to the poor and visibly demonstrate that that good news is actually true, by actually healing people, by setting people free.  His mission statement:  Isaiah 61 & Luke 4:18.  Jesus attributes everything he does, not to his divine nature as Son of God, but to the anointing of the Holy Spirit on his human nature.  This is so important because we get the same Holy Spirit that Jesus received at our baptism.  We are meant to have a mission that looks like the mission of Jesus.  "Just as the Father as sent me, so I send you."  Mark 16 - "Go, proclaim the Gospel to all creation and these signs will accompany those who believe."  Luke, key to the great commission:  "Go, proclaim the Gospel to the whole world but stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high."  Acts - "Wait for the promise of the Father.  John baptized with water but you are going to be baptized with the Holy Spirit."  "That's how you are going to carry out the mission that I've given you."  The Holy Spirit reveals to us the love of God the Father and that changes us.  As darkness grows darker, the Lord is restoring to his church what belongs to us, as our apostolic heritage from the beginning, the full equipment of the Holy Spirit so that we might carry out the mission he has given us.  The Lord is sending us.  Keys for walking in that anointing of the Holy Spirit:  1)  Continue to be filled with the Holy Spirit.  Ask for it.  2) Cultivate intimacy with Jesus.  "Know" him.  Sacraments, daily prayer, daily reading of Scripture, etc.  3) Ask, seek and knock.  St. Teresa of Avila:  When we ask God for big things, we do him a favor.  We pay him a compliment because we tell him he's capable of great things.  4) Get God's heart for the lost.  God weeps for the lost sheep.  5) Mary:  "Do whatever he tells you."  Obedience, listening to the Lord and what he's saying to us specifically.  Jesus will take the water of our obedience and he will turn it into the wine of his divine life.

Praise Reports

We have been praying for the young seminarian, Michael from Trinidad.  He is feeling a lot better.  His breathing has improved and he is moving around better.  The cardiologist reported that there is a significant improvement in his heart.  It is hoped that he can be prescribed drugs as an alternative to the defibrillator.  We thank you, Lord, and we continue to pray for him.

Last week Richard had asked prayers for us to find a place for Msgr. Stan that would meet his needs.  Most places have a long waiting list.  On Thursday, we received a phone call from Fr. Richard Arsenault of the Winnipeg Diocese which we thought was an answer to prayer because we had not talked to him.  He was just prompted to phone us and ask about Msgr. Stan.  There's a brand new place across from the Misericordia Hospital that just opened in August and that we could get a place immediately.  We saw it on Friday,  Msgr. Stan liked it and the lease was signed today.  He moves on December 15.  Thank you, Lord, for watching over us and taking care of us!
