The following are words given by participants at the streamed meeting. 1 Corinthians 14:29 says that "Two or three prophets should speak, and the others weigh carefully what is said." 1 Thess 5:19-21 tells us not to despise prophecies, but to test everything and retain what is good.
Scripture Reading at beginning of meeting, Jeremiah 29:11 - "For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you."
Scripture Reading Joel 3:16-17 - "The Lord roars from Mount Zion; his voice thunders from Jerusalem; earth and sky tremble. But he will defend his people. 'Then Israel, you will know that I am the Lord your God.'"
Scripture Reading Psalm 95:1-7 - "O come, let us sing for joy to the Lord, let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation, let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, let us shout joyfully to him with psalms. For the Lord is a great God and a great King above all gods, in whose hand are the depths of the earth, the peaks of the mountains are his also. The sea is his, for it was he who made it, and his hands formed the dry land. Come, let us worship and bow down, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker. For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture and the sheep of his hand."
Prophecy - (I believe this is a continuation of the Scripture Reading from Joel.) "My children, all is holy. All is good. All is as it should be. I'm in control and have order of all. My Father is pleased with you all. Keep praying, praising and believing."
Prophecy - "My little ones, remember that I am a shepherd, a good shepherd, the only shepherd. Remember to follow me, to stay focused on me. Do not allow the enemy to lead you astray. Listen to my word, my word, my little ones. Do not even listen to what the evil one is trying to say. Come back to me, start praising and worshipping. Remember to always thank me, look to me. Stay focused on me, alone, my little ones, and I will give you all you need. I will fill every desire of your heart because I will become the desire of your heart, and there's nothing I will hold back. You are my precious little ones, my chosen ones. Bless you, my children, bless you."
"God's Voice and the Prophetic" by Alicia Hartle.
What is God saying to you? Need to expect to hear from God.
Was that God the Father, God the Son, or God the Holy Spirit speaking? Or is it me who is speaking, or Satan speaking. Ask in the name of Jesus who is speaking.
When Alicia prayed to hear God's voice, her first message was Proverbs 3:3 - "Forsake not truth and mercy; bind them around your neck and write them on the tablet of your heart."
John 10:27 - "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them and they follow me." When we pray to hear the voice of God, it's so intimate, it's so personal. But that is the foundation for exercising the gift of prophecy. So we want to be aware of even from the time we were little, how did we first see and hear and sense the Lord.
Jesus sometimes presents himself to us through the least of his people. i.e. Story of woman in wheelchair on a street corner. Alicia was in a hurry in her car and passed her by, changed her mind and came back. The Lord spoke to her heart, so powerfully. Jesus Christ had presented himself in the least of these, and she drove past.
Jesus wants to be with us. He wants to speak to us. He wants our heart. There are many, many ways in which the Lord will speak to us. One of the most profound ways that the Lord has spoken to Alicia is through prophecy.
1 Cor 12, 13 & 14.
1 Cor 12:7 - "Now to each one, the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good." Spiritual gifts are given for the equipping of the Church. It's for others.
1 Cor 12:11 - "All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one just as he determines." This is the work of the Spirit. This brings us into a place of humility. St. Paul says, "If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing." (humility and love)
1 Cor 13:8 - "Love never fails but where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled, and where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears." St. Paul is sharing that this mysterious manifestation of the Holy Spirit is the kingdom of heaven come, and when we come into the fullness of heaven, it will pass away. He's giving us instructions for all the spiritual gifts. He's letting us know that what we know in part, we will know in full. There will be a fullness of understanding. There will be a fullness of knowing the Lord when we get to heaven.
1 Cor 14:1 - "Pursue love and earnestly desire spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy." Let your action be love. Eagerly desire: an act of the heart.
How do we use the gift of prophecy? Have a bible nearby. Often times, we will receive a word that is Scripture for a group of people or for a person. Sometimes, it's an image. Sometimes, all we're experiencing is a sense that overwhelms us, fills us. Sometimes, it's an actual word that we see in our mind. Sometimes, we're given entire phrases. Sometimes, the gift of prophecy is poured out in a mysterious way that is beyond all that has been mentioned. Have expectant faith and be open to receive.
When we receive, we might hear in our mind, a thought. It might be in our heart, a sense. We might have a dream. We might hear a prophetic word spoken in tongues and we might receive a sense, a word, a vision.
St. Paul in his letter to the Corinthians gives us very clear outline of how prophetic words are to build up the body of Christ. 1 Cor 14 - "But the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, their encouraging, their comfort." St. Paul goes on to say that revelation, instruction and knowledge, exhortation can come through prophetic words. Exhortation is almost always an invitation to change.
The body of Christ is equipped and sent as missionaries.
To grow in the gifts, pray and practice with a small group. And study; the word of God is foundation for prophecy. Pray for the grace to grow in discernment.
In the name of Jesus, who is speaking? In the name of Jesus, is this word for me or for others? Does this word align with Scripture and the teachings of the Church? Does the word strengthen, encourage, comfort, reveal, instruct, share a word of knowledge, exhort or evangelize?
A word that was given to Alicia for a group: The Holy Spirit speaking, "I will overshadow you, carry the fire of my love in the womb of your heart, and you will give birth to Christ in the world."
Monika had asked prayers for her knee. Thanks be to God, she can drive again, can bend her knee again. She's almost back to normal and she knows it was the prayers. She knows it is the Lord healing her knee and she gave praise to him for that!
Prophetic sense - I feel very strongly, prompted to speak. His peace and joy are over each one of you. He's filling your heart with his peace, his joy and his love in ways only he can do that.
Prophetic sense - I just got a big powerful punch while some prayers were going on and I started singing it over and over. The song that seemed to go over what everybody was saying was that one from the Oblate Missionaries: "Go tell everyone that the Spirit of God has come. Go tell everyone that the kingdom of God is here."
Prophecy - "I love you, my children. I'm embracing you now as we leave. I'm drawing you even closer to myself. Always be aware that I want to speak to you, to guide you, to be with you, so take a moment and wait for me because I will help you and guide you and lead you in the way that I would have you come. My dearest, dearest, dearest children, I love you dearly."
