Prophetic Words & Scripture Readings at Live Stream January 3, 2024

Jan 05, 2024

The following are words given by participants at the streamed meeting.  1 Corinthians 14:29 says that "Two or three prophets should speak, and the others weigh carefully what is said."  1 Thess 5:19-21 tells us not to despise prophecies, but to test everything and retain what is good.

At beginning of meeting, Gospel Acclamation from today, John 1:14a, 12a - "The Word of God became flesh and dwelt among us.  To those who accepted him he gave power to become the children of God."

Prophecy - The words that came to me after that last group was singing, that the Lord resides in the praises of his people.  I was so moved by the spirit of prayer in which they (the last singing group) were in.  I was really touched.  "The Lord resides in the praises of his people."

Scripture Reading Psalm 103:17-22 - "The steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him, and his righteousness to children's children, to those who keep his covenant and remember to do his commandments.  The Lord has established his throne in the heavens, and his kingdom rules over all.  Bless the Lord, O you his angels, you mighty ones who do his bidding, obedient to his spoken word.  Bless the Lord, all his hosts, his ministers that do his will.  Bless the Lord, all his works, in all places of his dominion.  Bless the Lord, O my soul."

Confirmation/Vision - I can confirm the first prophecy.  In the praise and worship, I saw Jesus and he was there and he was walking among all the people with their hands raised praising him.

Scripture Reading 1 Peter 1:13-16 - "Prepare your minds for action; discipline yourselves; set all your hope on the grace that Jesus Christ will bring you when he is revealed.  Like obedient children, do not be conformed to the desires that you formerly had in ignorance.  Instead, as he who called you is holy, be holy yourselves in all your conduct; for it is written, "You shall be holy, for I am holy.""

Scripture Reading Matthew 4:4 - "Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God."

Georgina is reading this book, An Arrow in his Hand by Maria Vadia.  And before the meeting, when we were talking about the different kinds of prayer and how God was telling Maria to pray differently each time.  This is what is in this book.  And this is what Georgina is learning to do right now.

What struck Sharen in one of the songs was how good it feels to be part of the family of God.  Right after Christmas, it really has a whole new meaning.

Teaching

The teaching was by Fr. John Broussard, CPM.  Image of the vineyard in Scripture: dwelling place of God, fruitfulness of God and his grace, an image for the Kingdom of God.  The Fathers of the Church give us three primary realities that the Lord is talking about whenever he is using the expression, the Kingdom of God.  1) The reality of heaven.  2) The Church.  The Lord is present in his Church.   3) Our Soul.  The reality that the Lord dwells within us when we are in the state of sanctifying grace.  The contrast between complacency and vigilance in the spiritual life:  vigilance is about dependency; relying on God for everything.  Complacency is lack of dependance; we are self-sufficient.  Chastisement:  What is more terrifying than for God to do nothing, pull back his hand and leave us to ourselves (individualism) and see where we come to.  This is society without God.  And we are not above this if we do not follow Jesus.  During this time, it doesn't mean that God is not active in his church.  He's pouring out graces in abundance.  God is calling each and every one of us to become a saint.  Sanctity attracts.  Becoming a saint is getting to heaven.  We are all sinners, wounded and recovering in the same hospital, the hospital of God's church.  Story of St. Macarius:  the devil did not have any chance with his temptations when one of the brothers in a monastery followed the advice of St. Macarius who told him whenever he has one of those thoughts, to immediately place himself in the Kingdom of God, place himself in the presence and dwelling place of Almighty God and read the Scriptures; go into the chapel and be before the tabernacle and read the holy Scriptures.  If those thoughts didn't go away, to keep reading, and keep reading until he was relieved of those thoughts.  "Lord, give me the grace to want to be the saint that you want me to be."

 Praise Reports

Barb thanked everyone for their prayers for her husband.  His test results came back clear, no cancer.  Thank you, Lord!

Natalie - Last Wednesday, we prayed for Brenda's granddaughter whose boyfriend had committed suicide a month or so ago.  The granddaughter went into depression:  stayed in bed, and was now thinking of suicide.  Brenda phoned on the weekend and said it was a miracle.  Her granddaughter woke up one morning after Wednesday full of energy, worked all day in her place, took care of her children, and she said that she was "happy".  The Lord had set her free.  Thank you, Jesus!!
