The following are words given by participants at the streamed meeting. 1 Corinthians 14:29 says that "Two or three prophets should speak, and the others weigh carefully what is said." 1 Thess 5:19-21 tells us not to despise prophecies, but to test everything and retain what is good.
Scripture Reading Isaiah 12:3-6 - "With joy you will draw water at the fountain of salvation, and say on that day: Give thanks to the Lord, acclaim his name; among the nations make known his deeds, proclaim how exalted is his name. Sing praise to the Lord for his glorious achievement; let this be known throughout all the earth. Shout with exultation, O city of Zion, for great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel!"
Scripture Readings - Phil 4:6 - "Be not be anxious about anything, but in all things bring your petitions to God with praise and thanksgiving." Ephesians 6: "Put on the armor of God daily. Daily, put on the armor of God."
Pray the St. Michael prayer as we go about our day.
Confirmation of the first Scripture from Isaiah - I saw this beautiful water. A fountain of water would describe lots of water.
Scripture Reading Psalm 34:8-10 - "O taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him! O fear the Lord, you his saints; for to those who fear him there is no want. The young lions do lack and suffer hunger; but they who seek the Lord shall not be in want of any good thing."
Scripture Reading Sirach 2:1-9 - "My child, if you are going to serve the Lord, be prepared for times when you will be put to the test. Be sincere and determined. Keep calm when trouble comes. Stay with the Lord; never abandon him, and you will be prosperous at the end of your days. Accept whatever happens to you. Even if you suffer humiliation, be patient. Gold is tested by fire, and human character is tested in the furnace of humiliation. Trust the Lord, and he will help you. Walk straight in his ways, and put your hope in him. All you that fear the Lord, wait for him to show you his mercy. Do not turn away from him, or you will fall. All you that fear the Lord, trust him, and you will certainly be rewarded. All you that fear the Lord, look forward to his blessings of mercy and eternal happiness."
Scripture Reading Hebrews 12:2 - "Keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus, the leader and perfecter of faith, who for the sake of the joy that lay before him endured the cross, despising its shame, and has taken his seat at the right of the throne of God."
Scripture Reading Wisdom 6:1-6, Kings Should Seek Wisdom - "Listen therefore, O kings, and understand; learn, O judges of the ends of the earth. Give ear, you that rule over multitudes, and boast of many nations. For your dominion was given you from the Lord, and your sovereignty from the Most High; he will search out your works and inquire into your plans. Because as servants of his kingdom you did not rule rightly or keep the law, or walk according to the purpose of God, he will come upon you terribly and swiftly, because severe judgment falls on those in high places. For the lowliest may be pardoned in mercy, but the mighty will be mightily tested."
Confirmation/Prophecy - The words I was getting are: "Draw near to the Lord and he will draw near to you." and "Keep your eyes on Jesus."
Scripture Reading Luke 24:31 - "Their eyes were opened, and they recognized Jesus; and he disappeared from their sight."
Fr. Dave Swantek spoke on Matthew 6:19-22 - Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and decay destroy. Store up treasure in heaven. The lamp of the body is the eye. If your eye is sound, your whole body will be filled with light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be in darkness. And if the light in you is darkness, how great will the darkness be.
Fr. Dave said that we should be careful what we are exposed to, be careful what we take in through the media, etc. This can affect us in the inside. We have to be careful who we open our mind to. When we give our children a media device, to what are we exposing them?
Fr. Dave talked about the story, The Emperor's New Clothes" which is a tale about vanity and deception. Only a child told the truth that the emperor had no clothes on. It's being brave enough to speak the truth and also that we can get caught up in all kinds of strange teachings.
When someone is in darkness, we don't damn them. We try to help them. And God will give them the strength they need.
Matthew 5:8 - Jesus said, "Blessed are the pure of heart, they will see God."
G. K. Chesterton - "Christianity has not been tried and found wanting; it's been found difficult and not tried."
Last week Joan asked prayers for a man in prison who was very desperate and it was very worrying. Her daughter was very concerned that he would do harm either to himself or to others. There was a total change in him. All of a sudden, he was happy, began joining his groups again. He went back to his job working, just a complete transformation. Joan praised and thanked the Lord for touching him and she thanked us for all our prayers.
Last week Rosalie asked prayers for Lynn who was getting a hip replacement and that it would go well. She thanked God that it went very well.
