The following are words given by participants at the streamed meeting. 1 Corinthians 14:29 says that "Two or three prophets should speak, and the others weigh carefully what is said." 1 Thess 5:19-21 tells us not to despise prophecies, but to test everything and retain what is good.
At beginning of meeting, Entrance Antiphon from today's Mass - The Lord became my protector. He brought me out to a place of freedom. He saved me because he delighted in me.
Scripture Reading Psalm 51:1-7, A Prayer for Forgiveness - Be merciful to me, O God, because of your constant love. Because of your great mercy wipe away my sins! Wash away all my evil and make me clean from my sin! I recognize my faults; I am always conscious of my sins. I have sinned against you - only against you - and done what you consider evil. So you are right in judging me; you are justified in condemning me. I have been evil from the day I was born; from the time I was conceived, I have been sinful. Sincerity and truth are what you require; fill my mind with your wisdom. Remove my sin, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
Scripture Reading Matthew 7:7-11 - Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened unto you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks, it will be opened. O what man is there among you who, when his son asks for a loaf, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, he will give him a snake? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask him!
Scripture Reading Hosea 2:14-17 - So I am going to take her into the desert again; there I will win her back with words of love. I will give back to her the vineyards she had and make Trouble Valley a door of hope. She will respond to me there as she did when she was young, when she came from Egypt. Then once again she will call me her husband - she will no longer call me her Baal. I will never let her speak the name of Baal again.
Scripture Reading Romans 13:12 - The night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light.
Confirmation of Scripture Reading Matt 7/Prophetic Word - "Stop worrying about your everyday. Stop worrying about what you're going to eat. Stop worrying about what you are going to clothe yourself with. Look at the birds in the air. They lack for nothing. Look at the flowers. They don't worry about what color, the beauty. The Lord has done it all. If he does it for them, imagine what he would do for us."
I was reading all the prophecies from last week's prayer meeting on the weekend and this stood for me, Isaiah 2:2-5 - "In days to come the mountain where the Temple stands will be the highest one of all, towering above all the hills. Many nations will come streaming to it, and their people will say, "Let us go up the hill of the Lord, to the Temple of Israel's God. He will teach us what he wants us to do; we will walk in the paths he has chosen, for the Lord's teaching comes from Jerusalem; from Zion he speaks to his people." And what that meant to me was the Catholic Church, that many are coming back to the Catholic Church. And the mountain, the summit, is the Eucharist; and Jesus is Israel's God. He is the Son of God who came from Jerusalem. So, I just got all excited when I read this. It felt like, "Yes, people are coming back to church, and to the Catholic Church, and to the Eucharist. The Eucharist is drawing people.
It just seems like that song, Lighthouse. You see that light from very far but it's there, and you know it's there.
Scripture Reading Psalm 54:4 - Surely God is my help. The Lord is the one who sustains me.
Scripture Reading John 1:17 - For while the law was given through Moses; this enduring love came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God. It is God, the only Son, ever at the Father's side who has revealed him.
Scripture Reading John 8:12 - I am the light of the world. Anyone who follows me will not be walking in the dark, he will have the light of life.
Fr. Leo spoke on "The Catholic Truth About Halloween". Hallow = holy, een = eve, evening. Day before All Saints Day (Vigil). Remembering the dead.
We need to choose how to look at Halloween: through Christian lens, a Christian perspective or the eyes of the world, culture.
Fear is a great motivator to make money. The world is trying to make you buy the thrill of being afraid. Be very careful at how you look at these things. Realize that evil spirits are real. Don't mess with it.
We need to reclaim Halloween. What can we do? Remembering it's about holiness. Avoid any type of costume that glorifies or makes fun of or dabbles in the dark costume (devil, skeleton, mummy). Also, bless the costume, even though it is fun and harmless. Also, bless the candy. Do not decorate your home or yard with ghoulish things. Avoid symbolism connected with the evil one. Instead you can put up a crucifix with candles which light up using batteries. It will protect your home from the evil one. Create a book for the dead in your family. Put it on a prayer table. You can remember who these people are and keep them in prayer. On the 31st, or 1st, or 2nd, visit the cemetery. You can say a prayer: "Eternal rest grant it to them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen. May their souls, souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen." Do not make it a place of fear.
Maria M. - We have all been praying for her friend who had her MRI. The tests have come back all normal. Lesions were probably were there from when she was born. Maria thanked us for all our prayers. Praise God!
Rosalie thanked us for the prayers for her son. He is getting busier in his business. Thank you, Lord!
