The following are words given by participants at the streamed meeting. 1 Corinthians 14:29 says that "Two or three prophets should speak, and the others weigh carefully what is said." 1 Thess 5:19-21 tells us not to despise prophecies, but to test everything and retain what is good.
Vision - I saw this breeze, these very strong waves. I wouldn't say a tidal wave, just strong waters. And then I saw Jesus. He was like the Lion of Judah and he was coming with so much power and so much might.
Scripture Reading Psalm 110:12-14, 17-18 - Rise up, O Lord; O God, lift up your hand; do not forget the oppressed. Why do the wicked renounce God, and say in their hearts, "You will not call us to account"? But you do see! Indeed you note trouble and grief, that you may take it into your hands; the helpless commit themselves to you; you have been the helper of the orphan. O Lord, you will hear the desire of the meek; you will strengthen their heart, you will incline your ear to do justice for the orphan and the oppressed, so that those from earth may strike terror no more.
Scripture Reading Psalm 33:18-22 - Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear him, on those who hope for his lovingkindness, to deliver their soul from death and to keep them alive in famine. Our soul waits for the Lord; he is our help and our shield. For our heart rejoices in him, because we trust in his holy name. Let your lovingkindness, O Lord, be upon us, according as we have hoped in you.
Scripture Reading Psalm 30:4-5 - Sing praise to the Lord, all his faithful people! Remember what the Holy One has done, and give him thanks! His anger lasts only a moment, his goodness for a lifetime. Tears may flow in the night, but joy comes in the morning.
Scripture Reading Psalm 117 & Psalm 134 - Praise the Lord, all you nations, extol him, all you peoples! For great is his steadfast love toward us and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever. Praise the Lord! Come, bless the Lord all you servants of the Lord, who stand by night in the house of the Lord! Lift up your hands to the holy place and bless the Lord! May the Lord, Maker of heaven and earth bless you from Zion.
Prophecy - "My children, I want to teach you what my justice is. My justice is righteousness. My justice is hope, joy, love, peace. My children, these are gifts that I have given to you, many through the baptism of birth and baptism of the Holy Spirit. But, my children, suffering is a part of life. Trials are always there. Life is hard. Darkness exists. And many question my justice. It is through the cross that you will seek that hope. It is through the cross that you will come to know my love. It is through the cross that you will be purified and made whole and holy. So do not fear suffering itself, fear not having me in your life, the power of my love that can transform all things into good, the power of my love that can heal and make right that had gone wrong. I love you dearly, my children, I want you to know tonight that I am with you through all the trials and tribulations of life. Do not fear suffering. Do not fear these trials. So I won't lead you and guide you through them. My victory will reign in and through them. Know how much I love you. Know that my peace will be upon you."
Prophecy - "My power is immeasurable. My healing is powerful. My love is for you, my people. Declare, decree and tell all these things to your family, to your friends and to strangers. Be bold. Be strong. I am with you."
Confirmation/Scripture Reading Romans 15:13 - May the God of hope fill you with joy and peace in believing so you may abound in hope by power of the Holy Spirit.
Prophecy - "Rejoice, my people, rejoice! The God of gods in your midst. I, the Lord, your Maker, your Creator, I am here, right here in your midst. Do not look to the left or to the right, look at me. I have nothing but good. I have nothing but peace to give you. My little ones, do not worry. Place your trust in me. I'll never let you down, I'll never let you go. You are mine forever. Trust me. Believe me no matter what you see otherwise. It is the ? of the enemy. I will be with you in every trial, in every difficulty, and show you the way. I AM the way. Rejoice, my people, rejoice in the God of gods. I love you infinitely and my love will never change. I chose you before you were born, my little ones, each one of you. You have a unique gift to offer to my people. Go out, speak my word without fear, without hesitation, just like I went and spoke to my people and I set them free. My little ones, you are my hands and my feet and my mouthpiece. Go, heal the sick, deliver the captives. When you come against the enemy, do not be afraid. The God of gods is with you. Go, my little ones, go with my blessing, go in my love, go in my peace. Stay focused on me and you will see rivers open. You will see the sea calm and peaceful because I am with you. My little ones, go in the power and in the name of Jesus."
Bishop Robert Barron on "5 Ways Faith Can Free You From Depression and Anxiety". There is a mental crisis among youth. There is a correlation between screen time and depression. At bottom all psychological problems are spiritual problems. Non spiritual tools, alone, cannot address the psychological problems.
In a way, all of our struggles come from a disassociation from reality. St. Thomas Aquinas: God is the most real thing. When we're in touch with God, that's the most healing place to be. If we pray, get ourselves centered on God, we start to knit ourselves back together.
How faith helps us be free from depression and anxiety:
1) Having faith frees us from the illusion of total control over our lives, shifting the fundamental question we ask from what should I do with my life to what does God want of me. Shift of perspective. That's called conversion (metanoia - go beyond the mind you have). It's what God wants for you which is always better than what you want.
2) Faith can help us because it offers us metaphysical hope and not only psychological hope. Order your life to a transcendent end, a transcendent good, beyond this world. The spiritual life is a life of adventure. We can't be a slave of our feelings. We have to discipline our feelings, not eliminate them; order them properly.
3) Faith can help us to focus on the here and now, rather than worry about the future. Be not afraid. When we deny God, we become God. I've got to be in control of my own life. Wrong - God's in control. We are not God, we should not expect where we are going, but we trust in God. Isaiah: "The blind I will lead on their journey, on paths unknown I will guide them." Say, "I am not God, but I trust in God." Live in the present moment.
4) Faith helps us to focus on other's good rather than ours. St. Augustine: Sin is to be caved in on myself. Go out, do something. Give yourself to something. Get busy. You expand. Stop the self-preoccupation which is equivalent to misery.
5) Faith liberates us from the terror of death and the ultimate insignificance of our worldly accomplishments. Faith orients us to another world. This world is seen sacramentally. It's full of hints and signs. It signals ultimate truth, beauty and goodness. We cling to it lightly.
Dark night of the soul doesn't have a thing to do with depression. St. John of the Cross: You have to be detached from the goods of this world in order to make the great journey which orients the soul towards God. Then you can reinhabit this world much more joyfully. But first you have to go through the purgation of the nadada, nadada.
So, the dark night of the senses would be detachment from the visible and physical world. But dark night of the soul is a detachment even from those higher, like concepts and ideas, etc. It's not a falling into depression. It's a liberating detachment. It's affirming of God and all things in relation to God. Once you're free of them, they don't have this hold over you. Unless I get that position and once I get that much money...Forget about all that. That stuff means nothing. Worry about God and doing God's will and the rest will be given unto you. Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, you'll get the rest in right order and proportion. That job that meant so much to me, that money that I thought was to key to my happiness. That's the dark night of the soul when in a liberating way you can say, "All that stuff I worried about was rubbish."
Practical advice for those in the dark. Talk to somebody, a counsellor. Perform, starting today and every other day, perform a simplest act of love. An email to someone you know who's lonely. It's a smile to someone who annoys you maybe. Then you'll find you're getting joy. More light will come into your life.
How do we get children to back to church? Don't be afraid to talk to them. Would you like to come with me? What's the one reason why you're not coming to church? Give a good book, a video. Make the invitation. Ask questions. What do you have to lose?
