The following are words given by participants at the streamed meeting. 1 Corinthians 14:29 says that "Two or three prophets should speak, and the others weigh carefully what is said." 1 Thess 5:19-21 tells us not to despise prophecies, but to test everything and retain what is good.
Scripture Reading Psalm 62:5-8 - My soul, wait in silence for God only, for my hope is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation, my stronghold; I shall not be shaken. On God my salvation and my glory rest; the rock of my strength, my refuge is in God. Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us.
Prophecy - "My people, so many say I can't hear you, I can't see you. My people, do you hear the birds singing? That's me singing to you. Do you see the flowers? I created them for you. The wind that is blowing so gently on your face, that's my breath blowing and kissing your face. My people, feel the sun on your skin, that's my love for you that you are feeling. Tell others, 'Do you see God, do you see him? in all the magnificent pictures that I have drawn outside for all of you. Tell them. Thank you, my people."
Scripture Reading 2 Cor 1:3-4 - Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulations that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
Prophecy - "My little ones, know that I am with you in everything, everywhere, all the time. If you are going through some difficulties, know that I am there and I have a mighty purpose. I will use you powerfully. I will renew you in my Spirit. I'm asking you to be patient and to listen carefully to my leading. My words may be soft and low, but then I am calling you to be patient and to be open. Receive my Spirit. I will empower you. Everything, everything that you are going through, I will use. I am teaching you going deeper in your lives, in your hearts, in your spirit. I am preparing you for a mighty work. You are my chosen ones, in whom I am well pleased." I keep seeing Job in the desert and he was a very good man and very much in the Lord, with the Lord. He's in the desert and he's suffering. He loses everything; his family, all his belongings, everything. And the Lord says, "I was testing him, and in the same way I am testing you. Do not be afraid. Do not be worried. I have not left you and I never will, but I am allowing the enemy to do this, just as he did for me in the desert in those 40 days. He tempted me in every way. My little ones, you will only get stronger, I promise and I will only use you all the more powerfully. Thank you for your patience.
Confirmation of first prophecy - In the mornings as my daughter goes to the bus. Almighty is our God, he sends so many birds. It's like a choir of angels singing through the birds every morning when I bring my daughter to the bus, waiting for that bus. And the stillness of the air, the waft of sun touching down upon us, it's such a beautiful grace of God, such beauty of his creation, it's such glorious. It's so hard describing that moment. It really touches your soul so deep down. My daughter is special needs, moderate to severe autism. With her, I can remind her, this is God speaking to us, one of many ways he talks to us. He sends his birds to sing to us and this is his choir of angels through the birds and it's just so beautiful, not a cloud in the sky, the stillness of the air, a light gentle breeze.
Scripture Reading Jeremiah 51:58 - Thus says the Lord of hosts: The broad wall of Babylon shall be leveled to the ground, and her high gates shall be burned with fire. The peoples exhaust themselves for nothing, and the nations weary themselves only for fire.
Prophecy/Confirmation of second prophecy - "My children, I am with you in the good times and bad times. Just believe in my love, believe in my word, believe in my Spirit, believe in my healing, but in my time and in my way."
Leslie spoke on the significance of the Emmaus story; signifying despair to hope. We often fail to recognize God's presence due to sorrow, disappointment or rigid expectations even when Jesus is walking with us. We often miss Divine Intervention because we are fixated on our own problems.
In the course of the evening and at the breaking of the bread, this action symbolizes the Eucharist. Jesus is the Lamb of God, and provides food for our souls. As soon as the disciples recognized Jesus, he vanishes from their sight. This indicates that while Jesus is no longer physically present, he stays with us sacramentally through the Eucharist.
The story of Emmaus is the structure of the Mass. We walk to church and we gather together as a community of believers to celebrate the Mass. Jesus explains the Scriptures, that is, the Litany of the Word. There is the breaking of the Bread, which is the Liturgy of the Eucharist. Then he sends them forth, "Go and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit." That is the Dismissal of the Mass.
The Emmaus story brings to mind many significant teachings and reiterates that God is closer than we know, often hiding in plain sight until we are ready to see him or until we turn to him in our brokenness.
Background Information: Emmaus - Necopolis - 30 to 32 km west of Jerusalem, now inside Canada Park in the West Bank. The location of Emmaus in Israel was known as a village in the first century which is often considered the site of the post resurrection.
It was a delight to hear all the psalms, poems, written by our participants; very inspiring. Thank you!!
