The following are words given by participants at the streamed meeting. 1 Corinthians 14:29 says that "Two or three prophets should speak, and the others weigh carefully what is said." 1 Thess 5:19-21 tells us not to despise prophecies, but to test everything and retain what is good.
Scripture Reading Ezekiel 12:21-28 - "The word of the Lord came to me: Mortal, what is this proverb of yours about the land of Israel, which says, "The days are prolonged, and every vision comes to nothing?" Tell them therefore, "Thus says the Lord God: I will put an end to this proverb, and they shall use it no more as a proverb in Israel." But say to them, the days are near, and the fulfillment of every vision. For there shall no longer be any false vision or flattering divination within the house of Israel. But I the Lord will speak the word that I speak, and it will be fulfilled. It will no longer be delayed; but in your days, O rebellious house, I will speak the word and fulfill it, says the Lord God. The word of the Lord came to me: Mortal, the house of Israel is saying, "The vision that he sees is for many years ahead; he prophesies for distant times." Therefore say to them, Thus says the Lord God: None of my words will be delayed any longer, but the word that I speak will be fulfilled, says the Lord God."
Scripture Reading James 1:2-4 - "Consider it all joy, my brothers, when you encounter various trials, for you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. And let perseverance be perfect, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing."
Scripture Reading Isaiah 6:6-7 - "Then one of the seraphim flew to me holding an ember which he had taken with tongs from the altar. He touched my mouth with it. "See," he said, "Now that this has touched your lips your wickedness is removed, your sin heard."
Prophecy - "My children, do you often wonder why you experience trials, why the world seems to be darkened? My children, there cannot be light without the darkness, and there is no darkness without the light. I'm asking you tonight to believe something that is not visible, to believe that there is light even though you do not see it. And this night has the power to see it. This light has the power to heal, to transform and to remove darkness of all kind but it takes faith to believe in this light. And the light is my Son, Jesus, that has come into this world to deliver my people. The light is shining in the Holy Eucharist every time you go to Mass. My children, when times are tough turn to me for I am the one that can save. Offer it in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass for this is what I sacrificed my life for. All things are not for naught. There is a reason and a purpose behind the trials that come your way. Through them I desire to purify you. I desire to make you whole and holy. Awareness, my children, awareness of your sinfulness, your weaknesses and your limitations is what will lead you to freedom. For in that awareness I will be able to speak to the very depths of your heart and free, providing that you offer it to me. Detachment, detachment from trying to do it yourself, detachment from your pride, detachment from the ways of the world. This too, my children, is what's going to lead you to fullness and holiness when you cannot hold on to the world for the world does not see the light and the world does not believe that I am alive and that there is eternal life in the afterlife. But tonight I desire to minister to each and every one of you. I desire to heal you, to purify you and to make you know how much I truly love, care and understand you."
Scripture Reading Psalm 92:12-15, The Psalm of the Upright - "The upright will flourish like the palm tree: They grow like a cedar in. Planted in the house of the Lord, they will flourish in the courts of our God. In old age, they will still bear fruit, will remain fresh and green: To proclaim God's integrity, my Rock in whom no fault can be found."
Scripture Reading John 14:11-14 - "Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; otherwise believe because of the works themselves. Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father. Whatever you ask in my name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it."
Scripture Reading Matthew 10:37-39, Renouncing Self to Follow Jesus - "No one who prefers father or mother to me is worthy of me. No one who prefers son or daughter to me is worthy of me. Anyone who doesn't take his cross and follow me, follow my footsteps is not worthy of me. Anyone who finds his life will lose it, anyone who loses his life for my sake will find it."
Confirmation of part of prophecy - Two days ago, I had these words in my prayer time: "Jesus is the light in this world and the darkness will not overcome this light which is Jesus."
Scripture Reading Luke 6:20 - "Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of God." And the poor are those who recognize their neediness for God and allow themselves to surrender themselves to God so that he can meet those needs.
The title of the talk by Dr. Matthew Breuninger was "The Healing Heart of Christ". We were made for relationship because we were made in the image of a God who is a relationship. Human relationship is crucial for our well being. This shapes us, gives us our identity, our sense of self, our capacity to feel emotion, our capacity to regulate emotion, etc. The child brain when given the right kind of relationship flourishes.
Five dimensions of the right kind of relationships: 1) We need safety. We need to know that you're not going to hurt me. 2) Being seen and known. One of the deepest desires of our heart is to be seen. We're afraid if you see me you won't like what you see and you'll leave me. The type of relationship Dr. Matthew was talking about is the type of relationship that looks into us and says, "I see you, I see what you need"; looks into our heart. 3) A relationship that is soothing. 4) Being valued. We need to feel desired, wanted. It starts with parents. 5) a sense of support for being and becoming the unique self that God created us to be. Not that we are lovable because we think as you do, etc. We are lovable because we are that unique being that God created us to be.
What Dr. Matthew does in therapy is try to connect and give them this type of relationship. Anxiety and depression are symptoms of having not been connected to the way we were created to be connected to, not having the type of relationships that we were made for.
When we have this type of relationship, we learn to recognize our own needs. We learn how to take a trusting stance for others, we learn how to be vulnerable, we learn how to regulate our emotions, we learn how to hold uncomfortable feelings and thoughts.
When Dr. Matthew talks about feelings, he's not talking necessarily about the absence or removal of all uncomfortable feelings. What he's talking about is the freedom to love the way God created us to love. To be healed is to be set free to love in this way. This means that we will have fear, sadness, times of stress and being overwhelmed because we are human. It's not to hide, protect, impress, numb ourself out, distract ourself, disappear in a crowd.
Why the Eucharist? We were made for connection. God in his infinite mercy and wisdom has given us this profound gift, his Son, Jesus Christ, a person with whom we can have union and communion in the Eucharist. Christ is perfect love. In the Eucharist we have the opportunity to encounter a person who loves us exactly the way we need to be loved. To encounter a person who is safe, who sees us and knows us, who values us, who desires us, who supports us in becoming the unique person we were created to be.
In the Eucharist we have Christ who crosses the horizon of heaven and earth, descends to earth, crosses the horizon between eternity and time and then journeys from the crib in Bethlehem to the top of Calvary to find each one of us and says, "I know your name."
As a psychologist, Dr. Matthew watches people who have had their hearts ripped out of them, who have had holes punched in their soul through trauma, abuse and neglect in big and little ways. We try to think of all these ways we can, and we turn our hearts to stone in attempts to not feel the hurt and the pain and the suffering.
Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament journeys to meet us on the cross and gives himself to us so totally and so absolutely that he says to us, "Take my heart." In all the ways that you feel not good enough, you feel unworthy, insecure, Christ waits in the Eucharist and he says, "Take my heart. I see you. I want you."
Why are we not better after having received the Eucharist for so long? Dr. Matthew said that the first thing we need to do is to read Scripture and get to know Jesus. We need to hear him say, "I am meek and humble of heart. I will to heal you." We need to read and see how he talks to the apostles, to his Mother. We need to know the man we're uniting to if we are to have this profound experience of connection with him.
2) We need to use our imagination. See Christ handing his heart to us. Think of his journey from all eternity to give us this heart.
3) We need to be vulnerable. Christ doesn't just want the good parts of us. He wants the inner Peter, Mary Magdalen, Judas. He says, "Give those to me." He takes them and holds them, sometimes weeps over them and over time always transforms them.
4) Bring these conversations and images of safety and being loved, being valued and being seen, bring them with you throughout the day. Talk to him throughout the day.
