The following are words given by participants at the streamed meeting. 1 Corinthians 14:29 says that "Two or three prophets should speak, and the others weigh carefully what is said." 1 Thess 5:19-21 tells us not to despise prophecies, but to test everything and retain what is good.
At beginning of meeting - St. John Paul II: Conversion to God always consists in discovering God's mercy. And Psalm 145:8-9 - "The Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. The Lord is good to all, and his compassion is over all that he has made."
With Jesus there is no condemnation.
Vision - During the song, "Holy is his name", it was like the heavens opened up in the sky and I saw angels receiving the praising, and it looked like rays of sun that were coming from up and angels were receiving the praises. And I also saw one of the rays was red, made me think it was like the blood of Jesus.
Scripture Reading Psalm 39:1 & Psalm 40:1-3 - I said, "I will guard my ways that I may not sin with my tongue; I will keep a muzzle on my mouth as long as the wicked are in my presence." I waited patiently for the Lord; he inclined to me and heard my cry. He drew me up from the desolate pit, out of the miry blog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the Lord.
Scripture Reading John 15:5-7 - I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in me, he is thrown away as a branch and dries up; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire and they are burned. If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.
Prophetic sense - I sense the Lord saying that we are to spread the good news like never before. The Lord will give us a boldness because so many need to come to him and trust in him with the times we are in.
Scripture Reading Isaiah 2:2-5 - In days to come the mountain where the Temple stands will be the highest one of all, towering above all the hills. Many nations will come streaming to it, and their people will say, "Let us go up the hill of the Lord, to the Temple of Israel's God. He will teach us what he wants us to do; we will walk in the paths he has chosen, for the Lord's teaching comes from Jerusalem; from Zion he speaks to his people." He will settle disputes among great nations. They will hammer their swords into plows and their spears into pruning knives. Nations will never again go to war, never prepare for battle again. Now, descendants of Jacob, let us walk in the light which the Lord gives us!
Prophecy - "My children, I am the Lord God, the God of all creation, the God of the earth, the God of the heaven, and it is I who is in control. It is I who lead and guide the heaven and the earth. Even though I have given you the gift of free will, I can turn anything into good. Tonight I want to give you the gift of trust, trust in my word, trust in the gift of my sacraments that I have given you through the church, and trust in the gift of the Holy Spirit that reigns within your soul. My children, I desire that you be made whole, but wholeness doesn't come without work. I desire that you surrender yourself and have a spirit of openness, a teachable spirit, a teachable spirit that will be open to being led and guided according to my way, according to my word, for I know what will work. And in this gift of trust you will come to know me and how I work within you and within this world. Turn to me, my children, whenever there is doubt, whenever there is worry and concern or anxiety about what is happening within your life or what is happening in this world, and I will give you that peace and I will give you that gift of trust to know that I can work miracles through all things."
Scripture Reading Matthew 11:28-30 - Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Scripture Reading Psalm 46:8-11 - Come, behold the works of the Lord; see what desolations he has brought on the earth. He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; he breaks the bow, and cuts the spear in two; he burns the chariots with fire. "Cease striving, and know that I am God! I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth." The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our stronghold.
Scott Hahn spoke on "The 4 Seasons of the Christian Life". Ecclesiastes 3:1 - "There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under the heavens."
John 1:12 - "To all who receive Him, who believe in His name, He gave power to become children of God." Conversion is not simply one and done. Conversion is a process. It takes a lifetime. Catechism 12:29 - "Becoming a Christian is accomplished as a journey." We are pilgrims of hope.
Becoming a Christian is accomplished in several stages in which certain essential elements have to be present. 1) Proclamation of the the word and acceptance of the Gospel. Initial Conversion (Receive him). 2) Profession of faith (Believing in His name). 3) Baptism - the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
If we choose to believe and receive, we are entering into a relationship with Jesus Christ. But that's not the goal, that's not the finish line, that's the first step. It's necessary but it's not sufficient. Scott Hahn used his courtship and marriage as an analogy to a Christian life.
Allow God to love you. Accept his proposal and find out what happens when you surrender your life to a God who is madly in love with you; who wants more for us than we want for ourselves and he's not willing to settle for anything less. He's not just willing to forgive us. He was dying on the cross to do that. He wants to meet us in Reconciliation. It's not a courtroom hearing, it's more like a doctor's office and all the medicine is free. Scott shared a story of reconciliation between his two of his small sons. He told them that if they came to him and came clean, they would not be punished. Scott hugged them, kissed them and led them in prayer. Toys were returned and the two were best buddies. In the Sacrament of Reconciliation, it's not vengeance, it's healing of the heart.
Last Wednesday, Joan asked prayers for a neighbor who had come to her that evening asking for an orange. She said she was starving. Her rent cheque had bounced, her phone and internet was cut off. Joan gave her food but she was really upset and wondered how she could help her. Joan asked us to pray for her. The following day, a niece felt like taking a drive to check on her aunt. (God's nudge). The niece pounded on the door, but the aunt did not answer. She called the police who came, (a policewoman was so gentle and so kind) convinced the aunt to have paramedics come and check her. They got her to hospital.
Joan marvels at how the Lord works. This was a day after we had prayed for her. Everything happened so quickly. The niece said that the family hadn't heard from the aunt for over a week, and that prompted her to take that drive. Joan knew that that was the Holy Spirit. Now, the aunt is safe with family.
Joan praised and thanked the Lord for that quick answer to prayer, and she thanked all of the group for praying for her.
Richard thanked everyone for their prayers. His surgery on the eye went well. Thank you, Lord!
