The following are words given by participants at the streamed meeting. 1 Corinthians 14:29 says that "Two or three prophets should speak, and the others weigh carefully what is said." 1 Thess 5:19-21 tells us not to despise prophecies, but to test everything and retain what is good.
Acts 2:1-8 - When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a noise like a violent rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. And there appeared to them tongues as of fire distributing themselves, and they rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit was giving them utterance. Now there were Jews living in Jerusalem, devout men from every nation under heaven. And when this sound occurred, the crowd came together, and were bewildered because each one of them was hearing them speak in his own language. They were amazed and astonished, saying, "Why, are not all these who are speaking Galileans? And how is it that we each hear them in our own language to which we were born?"
Prophecy - During the last song, I heard these words from our Lord, "My name is Lord. My name is powerful. My name is dependable. My name is holy. Call upon it, my people, and see what I can do for you. How powerful, how dependable, how holy I am, and how holy I call you to be. Call upon my name and be saved."
Scripture Reading Romans 10:9-13 - because if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For man believes with his heart and so is justified, and he confesses with his lips and so is saved. For the scripture says, "No one who believes in him will be put to shame." For there is no distinction between Jew and Gentile; the same Lord is Lord of all, and bestows his riches upon all who call upon him. For "everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved."
From the diary of St. Faustina #1249 - Today during Adoration, the Lord gave me to know how much he desires a soul to distinguish itself by deeds of love. And in spirit, I saw how many souls are calling out to us, "Give us God." And the blood of the Apostles boiled up within me. I will not be stingy with it; I will shed it all, to the last drop for immortal souls. Although perhaps God will not demand that in the physical sense, in spirit it is possible and no less meritorious.
Scripture Reading Psalm 90:14-17 - Let us wake in the morning filled with your love, and sing and be happy all our days. Make our future as happy as our past was sad, those years when you were punishing us. Let your servants see what you can do for them, let your children see your glory. May the sweetness of the Lord be on us! May all we do succeed.
Scripture Reading 1 Cor 2:9-16 - However, as the scripture says, "What no one ever saw or heard, what no one ever thought could happen, is the very thing God prepared for those who love him." But it was to us that God made known his secret by means of his Spirit. The Spirit searches everything, even the hidden depths of God's purposes. It is only our own spirit within us that knows all about us; in the same way, only God's Spirit knows all about God. We have not received this world's spirit; instead, we have received the spirit sent by God, so that we may know all that God has given us. So then, we do not speak in words taught by human wisdom, but in words taught by the Spirit, as we explain spiritual truths to those who have the Spirit. Whoever does not have the Spirit cannot receive the gifts that come from God's Spirit. Such a person really does not understand them, and they seem to be nonsense, because their value can be judged only on a spiritual basis. Whoever has the Spirit, however, is able to judge the value of everything, but no one is able to judge him. As the scripture says, "Who knows the mind of the Lord? Who is able to give him advice?" We, however, have the mind of Christ.
Scripture Reading John 8:12 - Jesus spoke to them again, saying, "I am the light of the world. whoever follows me will lot walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."
During a song about the Holy Spirit that was playing, Evelyn said that there was a bird right above her window sill. It was singing its heart out. She felt the Holy Spirit himself was here among us. It was such a powerful experience!
Prophecy - Tonight, my children, I have called you to freedom, not to be enslaved. I am pouring my Holy Spirit upon you in an abundant way, in a way that will bring this freedom to my people. You, my children, I have called to be filled with the Holy Spirit, that you may come to know me in a deeper and deeper way. And through the manifestation of my love through you, people will come to know me, people will come to praise me, people will come to be freed and enslaved no more.
Bishop Barron spoke on the fruits of the Spirit, Galatians 5:22. At Pentecost, the Holy Spirit manifested himself as a strong, driving wind. You can't see wind but you can see its effects. What are the signs that the Holy Spirit is operative in us? The fruits come from the life of the Spirit in us. Thomas Aquinas - Fruit is sweet to the taste. Signs of the Spirit's presence are sweet.
When you see the nine fruits that are listed in Galatians 5:22, you have a good indication that the Holy Spirit is operative.
1) Love - That's who the Holy Spirit is. Love is the ordering of the will for the good of others. It rests in the love of God, and it wills good for all the things in people that God loves. Jesus said, "This is how they will know that you are my disciples, that you love one another." Love is the primary sign.
2) Joy - Thomas Aquinas: Joy comes from possessing the good that you seek. Spiritual Masters: The flag of the Holy Spirit is joy. It's that deep sense of abiding in the joy of the Lord.
3) Peace - Thomas Aquinas: Peace is that equanimity that comes from being serenely in the presence of God. Serenity of soul.
4) Long-suffering - Patience. You're willing to put up with a lot. Bearing patiently the troublesome.
5) Gentleness - Kindness.
6) Goodness - Generosity. Plato: The good is diffusive of itself. It gives itself away. The generosity of spirit.
7) Fidelity - Faithfulness. Reliability. Keeping your promises.
8) Meekness - Thomas Aquinas: Meekness is the quality of being able to curb anger.
9) Temperance - Self-control. Chastity.
How do we get these gifts? Ask God for them. Pray. Go to Mass, Sacraments and be open to the influence of the Holy Spirit. You will find these fruits naturally coming to expression in you.
